The mission of Hammer Center is two fold. First, and obviously, we seek to inform track and field fans about the hammer throw at both the high school and collegiate levels. Eventually, we also hope to expand to cover national and international level open hammer throwers.Our second mission is to help aid in the growth of the hammer throw throughout the United States. We have been working closely with Hal Connolly (shown on the right when he was throwing in 1957), who is in charge of youth development in the hammer throw of USATF. We have helped Hal distribute his publications as well as housing him on visits to the Northwest to promote the hammer. Hammer Center founder G. Martin Bingisser was also the founder and co-meet director for the innagural unofficial Washington high school hammer championships in 2001.
