CollegeHammer.com back online (4/9/07)
We apologize for the lack of updates over the past month. After a busy month of school, CollegeHammer.com is back online for the outdoor season.
The season has gotten off to a quick start. On the men's side, three atheltes have broken 69 meters, but no one has emerged as a clear front runner. Auburn's Cory Martin and Jake Dunkleberger opened up their season last weekend with 69 meter performanceds. Nick Owens (North Carolina) and Adam Midles (USC) both threw 69 meters in March. Midles' mark is a large improvement over his best from last season. After the front runners, a slew of men sit between 65 and 67 meters.
Brittany Riley (Southern Illinois) and Jenny Dahlgren (Georgia) continue to be the top to women's throwers. However, compared to the indoor season, Dahlgren has closed the gap. Riley threw a new best of 67.96 meters in March to put up an early season leading mark. Dahlgren has thrown 65.56 meters and also won the Texas Relays this past weekend. Eva Orban has also had a consistent early season and has the nation's second best mark with a throw 66.69 meteres from this past weekend's Pepsi Invitational.
